Description
MECHANISM OF ACTION
The combination of three complementary active substances - nicosulfuron, rimsulfuron, and dicamba - makes PRINCIPAL® GOLD one of the broadest-spectrum herbicides for corn available on the Bulgarian market. Dicamba belongs to the chemical family of benzoic acids, which act as synthetic auxins - chemicals that participate in plant growth regulation, thus disrupting their natural hormonal balance. This causes disruption of growth processes in the plant. Dicamba is absorbed through leaves and roots, with rapid translocation throughout the entire plant via symplastic and apoplastic systems. Nicosulfuron and rimsulfuron are members of the sulfonylurea herbicide family. Both active substances control weeds through foliar action. However, minimal residual activity may be observed on sandy soils with low organic matter content under ideal moisture conditions. Nicosulfuron and rimsulfuron control weeds by blocking the biosynthesis of the plant enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS), which is necessary for the production of branched-chain amino acids: leucine, isoleucine, and valine - essential building blocks of proteins and other plant components. PRINCIPAL GOLD is a systemic herbicide that enters the plant through roots and leaves and rapidly spreads throughout the entire plant.
