Pepper is a perennial vegetable plant of the nightshade family, which is usually grown as an annual plant. Its homeland is in the tropical parts of America.
The taste and appearance of the fruit depends on the variety of the plant. There are hundreds of different sizes, shapes and colors. Often the shape is elongated or oval. The colours can be red, green, white, yellow, orange, burgundy, purple and others. Some varieties reach 200 g. Pepper holds first place among vegetables in volume of vitamin C - 240 mg in 100 g.
Fruits of pepper are suitable for cooking, dressings, seasonings (in the form of red pepper), and some species - for drugs or for ornamental purposes.
