First weeding of cereal crops in spring
As soon as the soil is sufficiently dry in early spring, the first weeding operation can be carried out on autumn cereals. Please note: patience is required here; it must be really dry! Spring weeding with EINBOCK's AEROSTAR series machines has a number of advantages:
- Breaking up the crust in spring ensures that the soil is aerated and warms up more quickly.
- This means that vegetation can start earlier, the stem develops better, and plant tillering is stimulated.
- Aeration frees up access to water, air, and fertilizers for the roots.
- Most weeds are mechanically destroyed by the machine, saving you time and money on herbicides.
- If the soil is very hard and furrowed, a ROTARYSTAR rotary hoe can be used before weeding. After working with ROTARYSTAR, the soil is loose and therefore optimal for the next pass of the weeding machine. After the first operation, re-weeding can be carried out up to a crop height of 30-40 cm, if necessary. This will mobilize the nutrients in the plants, control late-sprouting weeds, prevent the development of diseases, and create well-balanced conditions for the growth of the crop and microorganisms.
No weeding when there is a risk of frost!
When weeding in the spring, it is important to make sure that no late frosts are expected at night for several days after weeding. Weeding reduces the frost resistance of the crop and can therefore have a negative effect on the plants if frost occurs several days after weeding.
The AEROSTAR needle harrow has been a proven aid to farmers in mechanical weed control for more than 30 years. It is available in versions with a working width of 1.5 to 24 meters, a transport width of 1.5 to 3 meters, and a distance between working rows of 2.5 cm with 60 springs per 1.5 m section length. The machines are equipped with different sets of springs, depending on the type of soil and crops to be cultivated.
