Preparing for sowing autumn crops
Autumn is approaching, and with it the beginning of the new agricultural year. The past period was full of challenges, but the well-prepared managed to cope. Precision farming, where every decision is made with a specific goal, bore good fruits, key to this difficult year.
It is time to look ahead and start preparing for the next season, choosing wheat, barley and rapeseed seeds, a balanced pre-sowing fertilization scheme and products for decontamination and preparation, guaranteeing a successful start to the new campaign.
Preparing the fields
The harvest is over, but what we see in the fields is not good at all, namely massive secondary weeding. The best solution in such cases is the application of glyphosate. It is a total systemic herbicide, used to combat annual and perennial cereal and broadleaf weeds. If the field is heavily weeded, mechanical treatments alone are not enough. When we have problematic rhizome and root-shoot types of weeds, their cutting during processing provokes them to grow and develop even more. In addition, if you rely only on mechanical processing, weed seeds remain in the soil. And you know that they have germination for several years. Accordingly, in the spring, along with the cultivated plants, the weeds also sprout. Logically, this leads to a reduction in yield, since the weeds "pull" water and nutrients from the soil. The cultivated plants are suppressed, since they are competed with by the weeds. Therefore, our recommendation is to use glyphosate, which is the best solution for controlling serious weeding.
In our product portfolio, we have included several established products on the market with proven qualities and very competitive prices - these are Nasa 360 SL, Gallup Super 360, Roundup Classic Pro and Glyfon. The registered dose of total herbicides is from 400 ml/deca to 1200 ml/deca. A very important point is to adjust the dose to the available weeds in the individual fields. If annual cereal and broadleaf weeds are controlled, the dose is about 400 ml/deca. It is working and completely sufficient. However, if the weeding is from rhizomatous species - vetch, sedge, balur, povetitsa, then the dose should be higher, even up to 1 liter per deca, so that the rhizomes can also be destroyed.
Selection of wheat and rapeseed seeds
High-quality and disinfected seeds, sown in clean soil, are the first steps to achieving very high yields.
In recent years, many farmers have relied on the seeds produced and prepared by Bulagro, and have not regretted their choice.
Our production base is located in the village of Yazdach in Stara Zagora, where the seeds are cleaned, disinfected, prepared and packaged using top-class equipment from leading manufacturers. The control of these processes is very strict, samples are taken from each big bag before it is certified. We sell seeds that are only our own production - we do not repurchase or resell. This way we are sure of the quality of the seeds we offer. We are proud of the prestigious "Best Buy Award 2022", awarded to us by the independent Swiss certification agency Icertias ((International Certification Association), defining us as the producer with the highest price-quality ratio in the wheat seed and barley seed categories, based on a survey conducted among 1,000 Bulgarian farmers. This is another recognition of our work and the efforts we make to deliver you the highest quality seed material!
For the upcoming campaign, all wheat seeds offered by us will again be disinfected with fungicide and treated with Valagro's unique product - RADIFARM.
The Bulagro Zemya plant in the village of Yazdach produces and prepares high-quality wheat, barley, triticale and pea seeds. The varieties we offer you this year are as follows:
Wheat (pack size 600kg) - Avenue S1 and S2, Armstrong S1, Asterion S1 and Sofru C2
Barley (500kg bag) – Zebra C1, Wendy C1
We also stock a wide range of rapeseed from the market leaders. We currently have ongoing early bird promotions that will guarantee you availability and hot discounts. For more information, please contact your Bulagro regional representative.
Seed disinfection and treatment
The next important focus is seed disinfection, and here our exclusive offer is the fungicide KONIMA, a product of UPL - a company with over 30 years of experience in seed disinfection.
Konima is a two-component disinfectant - with two active substances - ipconazole and imazalil. They have synergy with each other, with ipconazole covering the main types, and imazalil - fusarium, barley streak disease, basic rot. The product has a contact and systemic effect. Its formulation is very important, it is a microemulsion, which allows for a much better and more uniform coating of the seeds. The fungicide is odorless, almost colorless, there is no danger to the operator when working with it, in addition, there are no solid particles in the working solution.
In tests conducted in an independent laboratory, where several types of disinfectants were tested, it was found that most of them have a deviation in seed coverage from -60% to +80%, which means that some seeds received much more active substance, and others much less. However, with Konima, the deviation is from -20 to +20%, which shows that the product has much better coverage and is more evenly distributed over the seeds, which leads to a better effect in protecting them from infections. In recent years, one of the serious problems in pest control has been resistance. In general, most of the active substances used in seed disinfection are those that are also applied during the vegetation period for preventive or curative treatments. This inevitably leads to the emergence of faster resistance to them. In this case, the active substance imazalil was created entirely and only for seed treatment; it is not used during the vegetation period of crops, which protects crops from the emergence of resistance.
In the autumn-winter period, the main source of food for the plant is the seed and its shell. Until the beginning of sprouting, this is the heart of all metabolic processes, enzyme exchanges and, accordingly, growth activators. The best way to support the initial development of crops is by adding a root biostimulator to the main preparation. Bulagro professionals have trusted two main products that provide a strong, well-branched root with many hairs and supply the plant with all the necessary nutrients - these are Valagro's Radipharm and Coda's Kodafol Maximus.
Radifarm is a biostimulator that ensures excellent germination of the sown plants, homogeneous and powerful development of the root system. We have been working with Radipharm for over 10 years and have conducted numerous experiments that show that the root system of the treated plants is much larger than that of the control. In addition, good development of the central root and lateral roots, as well as root hairs, is observed. The product can be used not only in cereals, but also in oilseed rape, as well as in fruit and vegetable crops. The dose is 1 l/100 kg of seeds.
Codafol Maximus is an NPK fertilizer, ideal for foliar application, enriched with macro- and microelements, amino acids and natural stimulants. It is quickly absorbed and provides an invigorating, anti-stress effect, increasing the quality and quantity of production, especially in extensive crops - wheat, rapeseed, sunflower, corn.
